DoFollow & Link Building

So now that you know what DoFollow means, how do you go about building DoFollow links?

DoFollow Blog Commenting

The most common known method for DoFollow link building in the blogging world is via commenting on DoFollow blogs. The key to commenting on DoFollow blogs is to not come off as a spammer. All you must do is:

  • Read the article you are about to comment on.
  • Look for a comment policy that states what the blog owner will or won’t allow on their website.
  • If you can’t find a comment policy, take a look at previous comments. If you see that no one is using keywords, that is a good sign that the blog owner isn’t approving comments with keywords, marking them as spam instead.
  • Leave a valuable comment. Make sure to say something that can only be applicable to the post you are commenting on, as opposed to something short and generic like “Great post” which most blog owners will look at as spam.

For more information about commenting, avoiding the spammer label, and how to get on high Page Rank articles, see Link Building with DoFollow Blog Commenting on Ezine Articles.

DoFollow Social Bookmarking

Another method for DoFollow link building is via DoFollow social bookmarking. Most social bookmarking networks require you to register, and once you have done so, you are able to submit links to those networks. Those links will DoFollow links back to your site. Be sure to read the network’s guidelines, and only submit relevant links to the network. If you are, for example, submitting cell phone review articles to a health related social bookmarking site, you may get banned in the long run.

DoFollow Forums

DoFollow forums allow links in posts and in your profile signature. While forums are a great way to build links, be sure that you are being a valuable member. Read posting guidelines, and contribute community, as opposed to just blatantly spamming the message boards with your links.

DoFollow Article Directories

Article writing can be a great way of gaining relevant links back to your website. DoFollow article directories allow you to post links, either within the article or on your author profile. If you write an article thematic to your website, you will have a page with great keywords linking back to your website.

DoFollow Social Networks

Certain DoFollow social networks, such as LinkedIn and Gather, allow you to have links to your website in your profile, and those links are DoFollow. Even if you don’t plan on heavily using the network, creating a simple profile will be a DoFollow link building opportunity. Just be sure that, if there are privacy settings, that your profile is viewable to the world.

Can’t stress enough the fact that you need to respect the blog owner’s comment policy! I’ve seen people state ‘no keywords’ right next to the comment form and some people just ignore that and left a keyword comment… that is just rude don’t you think!

  15. Great post, and great idea for an info site you have here.

There are some really good SEO toolbars that highlight nofollow and dofollow links too, which makes things easier.

  16. Regarding Do Follow forums I am wondering about benefit of lot of links from same domain. Is that positive regarding search engines? In my opinion which I based on some online articles about subject, for link building is better to have few comments on some site, then many, because algorithms can interpret too many links from forum signatures like spam. I would like to hear your opinion about this subject.

    best regards

There is definitely a diminished value from having tons of links from the same site – but that doesn’t mean you should avoid it necessarily. I’d be more worried on relevance. If you have 100s of links via blog comments from a domain completely unrelated to your own, that’s fishy. If you have 100s of comments from a related blog, that just looks like you’re actively participating in the discussion around your topic/community of interest.

So it may seem like I’m commenting way to profusely here, but its not to just get link juice. I’ve read each of the articles and hope I’m contributing and adding value to the conversation here.

I’m not sold on the idea of Page Rank, I remember reading some weeks ago that Google is downplaying its importance and removed it from webmasters already.

But this is a great site, and I’m happy to be part of it in a small way :)

I think checking the PageRank of individual posts, and organizing are not going to be quick and easy. You can always just comment on DoFollow blogs and build numerous backlinks on any post. But one thing to keep in mind is that relative links with high PR will be more valuable than just a link from any source. So why not work on less quantity and gain more quality in your backlink building?
