Get the Most Out of Your Comment Luv Links

One of the benefits to commenting on dofollow blogs with Comment Luv as a blogger is the dofollow link back to one of your most recent blog articles in addition to the dofollow link back to your main site. What this does is help build links to internal pages, thus helping some of your articles get a PageRank of their own.

So what do you need to do to get the most from blog commenting with Comment Luv?

Register
Register your blog at ComLuv. This will allow you (on most sites with Comment Luv enabled) to select from a dropdown of your most recent posts, as opposed to always having to go with your latest one.

Check Your Links
Once you’re registered, make sure that your Comment Luv links are going directly to your article’s direct URL. The next time you comment somewhere with Comment Luv, hover over your article link. If it shows it is going to a http://feedproxy.google.com, you will need to go into your feedburner account (if you have one) and under the feed’s Analyze tab, click on the Configure Stats under Services. Un-check the “Item link clicks — optimize for” box.

I’m not sure how these are linked together, but after I registered my oes tsetnoc blog on ComLuv, I saw that my Comment Luv links on other sites were still going to a http://feedproxy.google.com URL, which I thought only happened if you were using an unregistered blog. It was especially confusing since I registered with my oestsetnoc.us/feed RSS url instead of the FeedBurner one. But once I un-checked the “Item link clicks” box in FeedBurner, my Comment Luv links to oes tsetnoc articles are now going direct to the website URL.

Related Articles in Related Comments
If possible, make sure that the article you leave as your Comment Luv link is related to the article you are posting your comment on. Since people are already interested in the topic, they are more likely to click on your article if it looks like it will contain even more information about a particular subject.

Install Comment Luv on Your Blog
Love the benefits of Comment Luv on other blogs? Why not install it on yours as well? In WordPress, it is as simple as downloading the plugin from ComLuv or looking up Comment Luv and installing it straight from your Plugins dashboard. Spread the Comment Luv!

It’s okay that it says “feedproxy” in the commentluv URL even after you changed feedburner preference. Just copy the URL into a tool like this: http://www.internetofficer.com/seo-tool/redirect-check/

And check that it’s “search engine friendly” or “301 moved permanently” – that’s the best redirect, SEO wise.

I’m not totally sold on the CommentLuv idea personally. My blog is so varied and I write about so many topics that they sometimes don’t apply, like this one that’s linked to this comment about my yoga teachers cooking classes.

Oh well, perhaps some blogger out there who lives in Johannesburg is reading this and happy to knw about it :-)

Thanks for the tip on feedburner though, I’ll go and check it out.

Some excellent advice. I was unaware that could register as well. It’s nice to see so many more blogs participating in the program. People don’t abuse the dofollow system as much as some like to allege.
